The Proximity Hotel. Stunning!

The Proximity Hotel, one of the greenest hotels in the country is scheduled to open on November 1. L and I, along with two friends stopped by the Proximity, no, let’s call it the Prox. Anyway, we stopped by last night for the “soft” opening and it is a truly amazing hotel. Read this New York Times article to understand why the hotel is such a prized possession for Greensboro.

If you like the modern lifestyle you absolutely must stop by the Prox. From the furniture to the concrete walls to the suspended front desk counter the designers have cut no corners. Speaking of the hotels designers, they sat next to us last night in the Bistro… which will soon be one of “the” places to be seen in the Boro. Don’t think of this place as an ordinary hotel because there literally is nothing else (maybe 1 in Cali.) like it in the US.

After a stint in the Bistro we decided to ask for a tour of a couple of the rooms (around 11:30 pm). Without question the front desk attendant made arrangements and we were off to be amazed. The first of the two rooms was one of there normal overnight rooms and it was stunning. The room looked like it had been plucked from the pages of Dwell and was as modern as they come. The shower was big enough for at least 10 people to have a good party in. The second of the two rooms was a corner room and the floor to ceiling windows provide a view that will make you say “wow.” You must stop by and check out the Prox first hand… as there is no way I can do it justice.

Here is a quick photo tour.
